Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET), previously known as GATE, is a selective entrance examination for secondary school to identify the most academically able children.
The exam is taken towards beginning of Year 6 of primary school.
For 2022 Year 7 entry, the programme is conducted from April 2021 to Feb 2022.
How Strive to Thrive Works to deliver ASET/GATE Program
We run mock tests within an exam environment, to give your child the true experience of working in exam conditions.
Any potential slip up with exam stress or panic at the end of the paper can be ironed out and gives your child adequate confidence of what an exam is like, and how to deal with last minute nerves and panic.
Familiarisation of the exam and content through initial assessment over first 2- 3 weeks.
Then, develop a plan to focus on what aspects your child needs help with can be established immediately.
Build up confidence through practice in a non-pressured environment and the child should be given time to think about each question, and to read it, internalise it, and ponder the answer!
Your child should now be well rehearsed in the idea of taking practice papers in a relaxed environment.
We encourage your child to practice all areas in a timed manner to build up their speed, accuracy and confidence.
Increasing the number of practice papers to 2-3 papers per day or as per child’s requirement.
Their timing should now be up to speed, and you can begin to experiment with questions if your child starts to tire or begins to adopt rout learning routines.
